Alabama

Andy found out he's going to boot camp in Alabama. The last two days were hard for him. He had to take a written test and got a 91 out of 99. Then they lost his and 4 other guys test scores and had to shut down their computer system and reboot then search for their test scores. They found them after 4 hours of Andy sitting around twiddling his thumbs. Then they poked and prodded him taking blood and urine, etc. He leaves for boot camp on May 27th, right after school ends and his trip to the Cayman Islands with Chelsea and her family.
I'm trying not to think about how hard boot camp is going to be for him. I know it makes men out them but I've heard some of the stories and as a mother it's hard to imagine. It's what he feels called to and I'm praying that all of the information he has as a Christian, as it is put to the test, where the rubber meets the road, that he will be strengthened and renewed in his faith. And that he will be a witness to others.

He's in the Army Now

Our son, Andy just enlisted in the Army. I'm so proud of him. Andy has wanted to be in the military for a long time, so he just took the plunge on Monday and met with the recruiter. He's signed up for 6 years starting with boot camp this summer. He'll finish school and go through Officer Training.
I love my son and want him to follow God's direction for his life. He wants to serve his country and not take for granted how others are sacrificing for his freedom. He's a good man with a good heart.

This quote is very appropriate for what's happening in the White House in 2009

"(W)hen a strict interpretation of the Constitution ... is abandoned, and the theoretical opinions of individuals are allowed to control its meaning, we have no longer a Constitution; we are under the government of individual men, who for the time being have power to declare what the Constitution is, according to their own views of what it ought to mean."

— Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Curtiss, March 6, 1857, dissenting from the Dred Scott ruling that slaves were property
